Presentation of MP Vahan Hovhannisyan’s book ‘Mandylion’ held in Yerevan

A presentation of the book ‘Mandylion’ by Vahan Hovhannisyan, a Bureau member, Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D), and ARF-D parliamentary group member, was held on Friday.
 
The Russian-language edition has an “intricate plot,” the author said.

The people that have read the book shared their impressions. ARF-D member Lilit Galstyan said that she could not even think of Vahan Hovhannisyan as a writer just a few years ago.

“The writer Vahan Hovhannisyan – however he is avoiding the word ‘writer’ – made me read his book in a couple of days. I am deeply surprised at his intuition as a writer,” she said.

“Some people among us say, ‘Our people is worthy of what it has. We do not deserve any significant role in civilization.’ But no! We do deserve and we will play this role. But we have to begin with explaining it to our own people and then to other peoples. We must show the world our role in civilization, doing so by means of literature as well. This is the reason why I wrote the book,” Hovhannisyan said as he explained the reasons for the first Russian-language edition.

Ruben Babayan, Art Director of the Yerevan Puppet Theater, who read the book, says: “The book’s interesting format is attractive. It shows who we are, from where we come and where we go.”
