WCC to commemorate 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide

The World Council of Churches (WCC) adopted at its 10th Assembly in Busan, South Korea, a resolution to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

The measure was the result of repeated requests and consistent efforts by Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II and Catholicos Aram I of the Holy See of Cilicia, as well as the Armenian church delegates represented in the WCC Central Committee.

Citing the Mother See of St Echmiadzin’s press service, the Armenian service of RFE/RL (Azatutyun.am) reports that the Council has made a decision to organize an international conference with a simultaneous prayer ceremony in Geneva (Austria) on April 24, 2015 (the tragic anniversary day) to ask all the churches around the world to pray for the Armenian martyrs.
