Armenian president hosts virtuosic Russian conductor

Serzh Sargsyan received on Monday Vladimir Spivakov, the art director and chief conductor of the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra, reports the presidential press office.

The orchestra is in Armenia for concerts in capital Yerevan and the second largest city of Gyumri. The Yerevan concert was held n Sunday. Later today, the orchestra will perform a concert in Gyumri to herald the closure of the events dedicated to declaring the city the CIS cultural capital.

The concerts are sponsored by the Russian and Armenian Ministries of Culture and the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund.

Thanking the world-renowned virtuosic conductor for the Yerevan concert, the president said that the event has met received a big enthusiasm.

Sargsyan told Spivakov that it is a long time people in Armenia do not consider him a guest, but rather a close and caretaking person who shows passion and love for the Armenians at the most difficult moments.

In that respect, the president highlighted the importance of the upcoming concert in Gyumri. Sargsyan was delighted to note that the Spivakov Foundation is committed to the high mission of assisting talented Armenian children.

The musician said in turn that he always visits Armenia with the greatest pleasure and feels touched by the attitude he feels in both the concerts halls and in the streets.

Spivakov promised to organize a musical festival in Armenia in the coming couple of years.
