Turkey must admit Armenian Genocide for peace’s sake - Ragıp Zarakolu

Turkish human rights activist and publisher Ragıp Zarakolu, who is in Yerevan, told journalists on Wednesday that Turkey must admit the Armenian Genocide.

“Turkey has to admit the Armenian Genocide if it wants peace,” he said.

During the Armenian Genocide Young Turks transferred all the deposits of Armenians to Deutsche Bank.

According to Zarakolu, after being defeated in World War I, German transferred all the funds to the United States.

“I say that the funds on the US government accounts are actually Armenians’ property, and the United States must return the funds to Armenians,” he said.

Denying the Armenian Genocide is a crime, Zarakolu said.

With respect to the Turkish FM’s upcoming visit, he said that the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) is the only format ensuring minimal contacts between Armenia and Turkey.

“Due to it I can arrive in Yerevan by air. I welcome Davutoglu’s visit to Armenia though I do not know anything about his intentions,” he said.
