GOVERN project launched in Armenia; YSAFA project coordinator

The GOVERN (Fostering autonomy and accountability: development of state-of-the-art HE management system for efficient changes in line with Bologna principles) project of the EU-sponsored TEMPUS program has been launched at the National Gallery of Armenia.

Twenty-two European educational institutions, including Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts (YSAFA), are involved in the project. YSAFA will coordinate the project for the following three years.

Lana Karlova of the National TEMPUS office in Armenia told journalists on Wednesday that YSAFA elaborated the GOVERN project.

“It is a great responsibility because successful cooperation and dialogue depend on it. We hope the three years will be a rather active period, and the result will be well-trained personnel and accomplishment of great tasks,” she said.

Armenian universities will implement 18 new projects under the TEMPUS program, in cooperation with other well-known universities.

“The Academy of Fine Arts has been actively involved in the TEMPUS program and is now participating in five projects, which allows it to coordinate one of them, GOVERN project,” said YSAFA Rector Aram Isabekyan.

Participation in such projects is improving YSAFA’s status.

“A month ago, our higher school participated in a forum of the world’s best higher schools in Saint Petersburg. We, the Art Academy of Latvia and Belarusian State Academy of Arts were the only higher schools of the former USSR. All this is to the benefit of our higher school, its students and teachers,” Isabekyan said.
