Ivan Aivazovsky’s stolen painting returned

Today an unknown person planted the painting Seascape in Crimea by Ivan Aivazovsky (1866) at the Delo No. newspaper's office at around 10.30 am, www.akipress.com reports.

The painting was stolen from the Fine Arts Museum in December 2013, the Bishkek Police Department said.

Thus, an unidentified man in black glasses and hooded came to the newspaper's office and handed over some form to one of the employees. The employee did not know what was in the form and handed it to the chief editor. After, the picture was found. The editor called the police.

The case is under investigation.

The painting was stolen after the New Year party at the Museum. The New Year party was held on the first floor of the Museum on December 26. Disappearance of the painting from the exhibition room on the second floor was found on December 27 by museum workers. The theft was made in night time.
