Art Dubai 2014 to feature pieces by artists from Central Asia, Caucasus

Art of Central Asia and the Caucasus will be the main theme of one of the programs of international art exhibitions Art Dubai 2014 to be held in March in Dubai, Akipress.com reported, citing the organizers.


Art Dubai is a major international art exhibition in the Middle East and South Asia. Works of artists from several countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Georgia will be presented in the framework of a Marker program. This
program each year focuses on a specific theme or geography, emphasizing the role of Art Dubai, according to RIA Novosti.


This year, Marker curators will be a group of Slavs and Tatars artists who explore links specific to Eurasia, which they define as the area east of former Berlin Wall and west of the Great Chinese Wall. Marker section will be presented in the form of a tea house in Art Dubai 2014.


The visitors can also hear detailed stories and get answers to questions relating to religion, language and landscape of Central Asia and the Caucasus, the organizers noted.


Representatives of Slavs and Tatars group believe that importance of the Caucasus and Central Asia for the Middle East and the Islamic world as a whole, from process of formation of nations to syncretic religious rituals can not be overemphasized.


The Marker 2014 section is expected to feature works of more than 20 artists and will become the the most important exposition of works of art of Central Asia and the Caucasus ever displayed in the Middle East.
