Secret documents on Karabakh war in Armenian political scientist’s book

A book by political scientist Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan entitled “Azerbaijan’s aggression marked the borders” has been released.

The book incorporates secret documents signed by high-ranking Azerbaijani officials during the first months of the Nagorno-Karabakh war.

“During the war our intelligence service got the documents, but they were lost later. However, we could find them in the archives.

Azerbaijan is claiming now that Armenia aggressively occupied its territories. But the documents show Azerbaijan intended to commit genocide of the Armenian population,” the author told reporters on Wednesday.

Two documents are of special importance for Melik-Shahnazaryan. They prove that the then chief of Azerbaijan’s first secretary to block the border between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh to prevent Armenia from supporting the Armenian population there after Azerbaijan started war against Nagorno-Karabakh.

“This proves Azerbaijan to be the aggressor. I have sent a copy of the book to Armenia’s foreign office and I hope it will be found on the negotiating table. I have also sent copies of the book to different research institutes of Russia and to the European Parliament. I intend to send copies to the USA as well,” Melik-Shahnazaryan said.
