Today marks Yeghishe Charents’ 117th birthday

Today marks the 117^th birthday anniversary of the outstanding Armenian poet, writer and public activist Yeghishe Charents.

According to literary critic David Gasparyan, it is a holiday of literature. Today is also the 100th anniversary of his ‘Three songs to the sad and pale girl..."

“The study of Charents’ works is developing. Hardly any other author is of such interest to the public,” Gasparyan told a press conference.

“Regrettably, people know Charents only from the school curriculum. But he is a much more profound author,” the literary critic said.

“Charents was so well prepared to understand the world in his teens that he was able to get a book published in Kars. He was well aware of the value of the book,” Gasparyan said.
