Eurovision 2014: Armenian singer has high chances to win

Not Alone, Armenia’s 2014 Eurovision song to be performed by pop singer Aram MP3 in Copenhagen this May, has high chances of success at the contest, according to the Armenian delegation’s head.

“It’s one of those unique years that we more or less feel the breath of victory,” Gohar Gasparyan said at a news conference, congratulating the Armenian participant on the successful song.

Gasparyan said she is just back from Copenhagen where she attended a meeting with the heads of all the participating countries’ delegations.

“It’s not exaggerated at all. Many ask, after greeting us, ‘do you think if you have big chances?; They asked whether the Swedish had written [the song], and we said ‘no, it has been written by our guys,”,” she told reporters.

Speaking of his song, the Armenian singer said he thinks that the higher its rating the more will be the chances of success. “Judging by the rating coefficients, the YouTube views and the responses, I think we will be on the top five list,” Aram MP3 said.

The singer said he has very much liked Hungary’s participant whom he expects to be Armenia’s main rival at the contest.

As for the song’s structure, which is considered somewhat non-standard, the Armenian participant said they are not the first to perform in such a style. “There are many international hits which have such a structure: an opening, a rising action, denouement and aconclusion. We touch a human being’s spiritual inner world: it is calm and then flares up; then it calms down again. Our heroes blame each other and themselves, and later they realize what is dear to them,” he explained.

Aram MP’s promo tour will start on March 27 with a trip to Russia, the Armenian delegation’s head said. The singer will then head to Europe for more concerts and then be back to Armenia to start work on the stage design and the show.

The semi-finals are due on May 6 and 8. The final concert will take place in Copenhagen on May 10.
