The Romantics: New Armenian love drama to be screened in April

The Romantics, a youth love drama by Areg Azatyan and Shoghik Tadevosyan, is going to be screened in Yerevan on April 25.

On this occasion,  one of the film’s starring actors, Narek Nersisyan, shared his impressions and feelings.

“I immediately liked the film’s idea. I do not remember any Armenian film that so boldly reflects an Armenian young person’s thoughts, problems, desires and inner world. Besides, I very much liked the plot and the characters. For me, The  Romantics is something new, so I am very happy to have had the chance to work for a movie which is unlikely to have its duplicate in the Armenian film industry. I was inspired by the ideas and purposefulness. of knowledgeable and professional directors, as well as the film’s plot and message which is skillfully disguised behind external actions. My character is a unique driving force; it is an ordinary Armenian fellow with his problems and ambitions that push him to action,” said the hero.

The actor further spoke of the “bold” and "open" scenes which he said never held him back from the idea of playing in the movie. “Let me say at once that I haven’t felt shy, or reluctant to appear nude, because that was what my character required; it is part of my work. There are actors who think that it doesn’t suit them to appear naked, as that poses a risk of losing the audience’s sympathy. I do not see any danger, especially because the film, which is about Armenians, is not intended only for the Armenian market,” he added.
