Armenian church observes Good Friday today

The Armenian Apostolic Church observes the Good Friday feast today to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

The Christian churches across the country traditionally host a holy liturgy on this day to mark the final hours of the Great Savior’s earthly life, reports the Ararat Patriarchal Diocese’s press service.

A funeral ritual is served in the churches later in the day to decorate the symbolic grave of Jesus with flowers. A procession then moves the grave around the church to symbolize the Lord’s burial.

The feast is observed during the Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday.
