Canadian-Armenian director Atom Egoyan's film to compete at Cannes

Canadian-Armenian filmmaker Atom Egoyan’s latest film, “The Captive” will compete for the top honor, the Palme d’Or at next month’s 67th Cannes Film Festival, reported the Asbarez reported, citing the Toronto Star.

Egoyan joins two other Canadian directors, David Cronenberg and Xavier Dolan, to represent Canada with an unprecedented three films.

Egoyan, who last participated at Cannes in 2008 with his film “Adoration,” said he was pleased to be back in competition.

“It is always an honor to be in competition in Cannes,” Egoyan said in a news release.

“I am especially proud to be working with such an amazing team of actors, as well as my family of creative partners who helped bring the vision for The Captive to life,” added Egoyan.
