Armenian church to re-open in Turkey’s east

An Armenian church in Turkey’s eastern town of Şebinkarahisar ( Giresun Province ) is going to re-open after econstruction, the Sabah newspaper reported.

Officials from provincial administration’s Department of Culture and Tourism have told reporters that they are planning to re-build St Astvatsatstin, the second largest monastery in Giresun.

The local authorities reportedly seek to make the place attractive for tourists.

The provincial museum’s director, Holusi Kilech, said Şebinkarahisar has many other museums awaiting reconstruction.

“We introduce the monastery to the engineering circles in Turkey. We will let tourism centers and tour operators know that the province has so many important monastery complexes,” he said.
