Eurovision 2014: Armenian singer in high spirits ahead of contest

Armenia’s 2014 Eurovision participant appears to be in a good frame of mind ahead of the contest set to take place in Copenhagen, Denmark next month.

“Let’s go and see what we are doing,” Aram MP3 told reporters in Yerevan on Saturday.

The singer said he and his team visited about 17-18 countries for promotion tours in the past month and a half. “We saw a very good reception; especially the Armenians in those cities welcomed us very well and told us how they vote during the Eurovision contest every year,” he said.

As for his expectations, the singer said they are hopeful for positive results after painstaking preparations. “We are trying all our best to hold a victory. We are hopeful everything will be to our liking,” he added.

Gohar Gasparyan, the head of the Armenian delegation to Eurovision, said she expects the song to make a very imposing impression on the audience. “He will be all alone on the stage, but we hope he will not feel lonely, thanks to our compatriots” she said, adding that the song has high chances of a success judging by the wide interest it has attracted.

Aram MP3 is leaving for the Dutch capital with the delegation on Sunday. His song, Not Alone, will open the first semi-finals on May 6. The final contest is due on May 10.

The Armenian participant’s song has attracted the highest number of views (over 1 million) on YouTube. International bookmakers too, expect the singer to be the contest’s leader this year.
