Thousands pay last tribute to renowned actress Svetlana Grigoryan

Thousands of admirers arrived at the Hakob Paronyan theater of musical comedy on Thursday to pay their last respects to the renowned actress Svetlana Grigoryan.

“Svetlana was very dear to us. She was called ‘queen of laughter’ and it was so indeed. I recall people going out of the theater smiling. For 60 years she had been skipping on this stage. She had no husband or children and devoted her life to the stage,” actress Varduhi Varderesyan said I her speech.

Playwright Karine Khodikyan told Tert.am that “our theater has been bereaved of the kindest, sincerest and truest laughter.”

“She was such a great master of smile and laughter that we are both feeling pain and smiling while paying our last tribute to her,” she said.

“We have lost a brilliant person. Even if you were in a terrible mood you could not remain gloomy in her presence. The atmosphere she could create round herself was both creative and happy and professional,” said Honored Art Worker Vigen Stepanyan.

“Besides being one of the best actors of our times, Svetlana Grigoryan, together with Karp Khachvankyan, had been able to keep this theater alive for the past 45-50 years. We feel sorry she is not with us any longer,” said actor Razmik Khosroyev.
