Sen Arevshatyan civil funeral set for Jul 28

A civil funeral for Academician Sen Arevshatyan will be held in Yerevan’s St Hovhannes Church on Monday.

On July 29, the great scholar’s body will be moved to the National Academy of Sciences for a final farewell event, the director of Matenadaran (institute of ancient manuscripts), Hrachya Tamrazyan, told Tert.am.

An author of over 150 scholarly papers (including 30 monographs), Arevshatyan headed Matenadaran from 1982 to 2007. His works were published not only in Armenia but also in Moscow, Paris, Warsaw, Stuttgart, St Petersburg, Athens, Cairo etc. Arevshatyan’s research focused mainly on the ancient and medieval Armenian church history.
