New Wave Junior 2014: Armenian participant wins 4th place (videos)

The young singer who represented Armenia in this year’s New Wave Junior song contest has won the fourth place.

The professional jury gave David Vardanyan, 12, 104 points out of the possible 110, Armenpress reports, citing Grigor Kyokchyan, his musical producer.

“Andrey Boyko of Ukraine was declared a winner, as he performed very well on the two contest days and was really the best. The second and third places saw eventually three winners each, and David came in the fourth. The Russian representative, Yekaterina Maneshina, won the Viewers’ Sympathy prize,” Kyokchyan was quoted as telling the agency from Crimea which hosted the contest from August 16 to 18.

He praised the young Armenian participant’s performance at the event. “I am very proud of the good job he did and very happy to have worked with him. It is very important that [Russian composer] Igor Krutoy’s academy has signed a contract with David to enable his participation in different master classes. This is a serious offer made not to just anyone,” the producer added.

The young singer has no plans to return to Armenia as of now. His parents have told the state news agency that he is going to give a concert in the Russian town of Tuapse (Krasnodar region) by the invitation of the local Armenians.
