Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates Virgin’s Birthday today

The Armenian Apostolic Church is celebrating the Birthday of Saint Mary today.

The feast is not recorded in the Gospel; the tradition to mark it has reached our days from church rituals.

The news of the Virgin’s birth is believed to have been announced to her parents, Jochaim and Anne, by the Lord's Angel many years after the couple lived childless. Saint Anne thanked the God for the mercy, promising to dedicate the child to the temple.

The Birthday of Saint Mary is a non-movable feast on the Apostolic Church’s calendar.
