'HayFest' to feature over 50 performances this year

The organizers of the 12^th Armenian international theatrical festival have this year prepared over 50 performances which will they will stage in different theatres of Yerevan from October 1 to 8.

'HayFest 2014' promises its audience drama spectacles, music and dance performances, puppet plays and different open shows, according to Arthur Ghukasyan, the festival’s director.

“We will have different performances, as very different theatrical groups are visiting Yerevan. The renowned Hungarian theatre Living Pictures will mark the opening of the festival with its multimedia performance Living Surface. What makes this year’s festival unique is that two different theatres with the same name are coming to the country. The second Living Pictures in coming from Britain,” the state news agency Armenpress quotes Ghukasyan as telling reporters in Yerevan.

This year’s festival will host 200 participants and guests from 18 countries, including art managers, directors of international festivals and theatrical critics. Most of them will be from Britain, the United States, France, Italy, Austria, Finland, Russia, Iran and Georgia.

The festival’s director said four local theatres are going join the 2014 international event.

Entrance will be free of charge to enable more Armenian theatre lovers to get familiarized with highly valuable samples of foreign theatrical art.

'HayFest' has been annually organized since 2003. Since 2006, it has been a leading theatrical festival on the post-Soviet area.
