Armenian wine festival promises unique program this year

The organizers of the sixth annual Areni Wine Festival promise a unique program of events for this year’s participants.

The traditional pan-Armenian event is expected to attract larger crowds of participants and winemakers to Vayots Dzor, says Mekhak Apresyan, the head of the Economy Ministry’s Tourism Department.

“We already have highly respected festivals which have become a tradition. The wine festival has this year expanded its frameworks, maintaining the traditional timeframes and the venue,” he told reporters on Friday, adding that other winemaking communities of Vayots Dzor have also been invited to join the event.

The festival will run from October 1 to 5. Areni Festival Foundation has also proposed an event program for Gyumri. On October 5, Armenia’s second largest city will host arts and crafts, and bakery festivals.

The organizers are also planning different competitions; specialists invited from the United States and France will conduct master classes for the participants.
