Armenia’s philharmonic orchestra set for concert tours in Europe

The Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra is planning a concert tour in Europe, Armenpress reports, citing its chief conductor.

“The orchestra will perform concerts in two countries, Austria and Germany,” Eduard Topchyan told the agency.

The tour will run from 4 through 11 October. In Austria, the Armenian musicians will give two concerts (5-6 October). Their next performance will be in the German town of Lübeck

“In the course of our concert in Germany, we’ll play with pianist Andreas Frolikh. We will also unveil our new disc recorded by the German company Oehms Classics. It includes compositions by Mozart,” Topchyan said.

He added that the orchestra is planning many concerts in different countries next year. “Over the past years, the orchestra has seen a considerable growth which I attribute to the attention and big support by the president,” he said.

Founded in 1925, the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra has performed and spread Western European, Russian and Armenian symphonic music in Armenia and different other states.

It has taken part in many international festivals in Germany France, Austria, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon etc. Its concerts have been joined by many internationally-acclaimed musicians.

Since 1989, the orchestra has conducted concert tours to the United States, Canada, Austria, Germany, France, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Lebanon, Spain, Portugal, England, Greece, Iran, Cyprus, Turkey, UAE etc.
