Ayvazovksy, Axentowicz exhibitions to open in Armenia

The National Art Gallery is going to host exhibitions featuring canvases by famous Armenian marine painter Hovhannes Ayvazovsky and world-renowned Polish-Armenian artist Teodor Axentowicz.

Exhibitions dedicated to both painters were earlier held in Poland on June 14, a deputy minister of culture, Arev Musaelyan, told a reporters on Monday.

“The opening of the exhibition in Poland was attended also by the Armenian and Polish presidents,” she said.

Paravon Mirzoyan, the National Gallery’s director also attending the news conference, noted that the event has a historic significance. “I am sure Axentowicz dreamed about having an individual exhibition in Armenia,” he said.

Zbigniew Buski, the director of Poland’s National Gallery of Sport Art, said for his part that it is very pleasant for him to be in Armenia to attend the cultural event. “The idea of mutual joint exhibitions is the initiative of the Armenian and Polish presidents,” he added.
