Presentation of book ‘Self-defense of Armenians in Kirovabad in 1988-1989’ held

The National Academy of Armenia hosted the presentation of the book “Self-defense of Armenians in Kirovabad in 1988-1989” by ethnographer Hranush Kharatyan and Grisha Oganezov.

“People were doing their work by recording and video recording the victims’ stories and making pictures. After going through hardships, the people still trusted the USSR Prosecutor’s Office and provided a package of documents to it, which disappeared later. Let us hope the document will re-appear,” Ms Kharatyan said.

According to Mr Oganezov, the book is supposed to answer future generations’ questions.

“It is most important that Azerbaijani young people read the book as well, because they know very little about their own history.”
