Tandilyan promises ‘revised law’ on funded pensions
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mane Tandilyan promises to revise the recently adopted law on funded pensions to propose at mutually acceptable solutions for the society and government.
Shortly after the cabinet meeting on Thursday, the minister took to Facebook to restate her commitment to future reforms in the framework of her official authority.
“I am confident that the new government is capable of providing solutions to the existing problems on a high-level and within limited timeframes,” reads part of her statement.
Tandilyan issued a decision to step down earlier this month, citing disagreements with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s cabinet over the mandatory component of the reforms.
She had recommended postponing the enactment of the proposed clause until 2019, but the prime minister insisted on its implementation in an effort “to win time.”
At the cabinet meeting on Thursday, Pashinyan said he had not accepted the minister’s resignation, agreeing to work with her and her ministry to get the necessary reforms under way.
