The collapsed tower of the Halghpat monastery wall has been restored

Repairing, fixing and restoring the western wall and towers of Haghpat monastery complex of Alaverdi community of Lori marz, carried out by the order of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, have been completed. This is reported by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The following works were carried out: the tower that collapsed due to the earthquake was restored, the foundations of the walls and towers were opened from the outside, cleaned with water jets, and up to the point of the slab was fixed with a monolithic compound mortar.

The columns of the walls were cleaned of vegetation, decayed plaster and interfill, were restored. Some parts of the walls were filled with similar mortar, a protective layer of irregular basalt shale was placed on the walls, ensuring the directed removal of water, etc.

At the same time, taking into account the severely damaged condition of some structures of the Haghpat monastery complex, their roofs, the ministry will in 2025 in the near future will announce a competition for drawing up scientific design documents for the repair, fixing and restoration of the structures of the monastery complex, in which architects with the highest "C" class license can participate.
