U.S. doubles funding for the TRIPP Project to $402 million
The United States has doubled the funding allocated to the TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund, increasing it from $201 million to $402 million. The information was published in the U.S. government's official spending database (USAspending.gov), which indicates that Armenia is designated as the primary place of performance for the project.
According to the published information, the funding is linked to the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) connectivity initiative, which envisages the development of a transportation route through southern Armenia aimed at connecting the South Caucasus with the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
According to the disclosed data, on January 30, 2026, the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs awarded a $201 million grant to the TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund, with the project scheduled to run through December 31, 2036. A modification made to the grant on July 16 increased the U.S. funding commitment to $402 million, while leaving the project's completion date unchanged.
The TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund was established on January 26, 2026, two weeks after the meeting in Washington between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
At the conclusion of that meeting, the two sides released a document stating that they would establish the TRIPP Development Company, which will be responsible for developing and implementing the infrastructure of the TRIPP route through southern Armenia. Under the agreement, the Republic of Armenia will hold a 26 percent stake in the company, while the remaining 74 percent will belong to the United States.
The TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund and the TRIPP Development Company are separate entities. The latter is intended to develop and implement the infrastructure project passing through southern Armenia.
The TRIPP Development Company is expected to operate under the auspices of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
Unlike the development company, the TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund was created as a separate investment fund. Businessman Konstantin Sokolov has been appointed as its Chairman. According to the source, the fund is also registered in Delaware's official corporate registry under the name Trans-Caspian Enterprise Fund.
The increase in U.S. funding comes as Washington seeks to expand its involvement in developing transportation and economic connectivity in the South Caucasus, as well as in advancing projects linking the region to the Trans-Caspian Corridor.
According to the initiative's authors, implementation of the TRIPP route could have an impact not only on regional trade and logistics, but also on the strategic environment of the South Caucasus.
