Yerevan to host festival of contemporary Armenian music

A festival of contemporary Armenian music will take place in Yerevan, October 31 to November 3.

Compositions written after 2000 will be performed during the festival.

Chairman of the Union of Composers of Armenia Aram Satyan told reporters on Tuesday that the festival is supposed to show the progress of Armenian music during the period in question.

“The aim of this unique project is to bring together the leading companies – the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, State Youth Orchestra, State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia and State Chamber Chorus of Armenia, as well as soloists from Armenia, China, Israel, Switzerland,” Mr Satyan said.

The festival is aimed at presenting Armenian music to the entire world.

“We should think of that because Armenian musicians are in demand in the world,” he said.
