WebAppricot 2014 festival gets under way (photos)

The fourth annual Armenian online film festival WebApricot is opening today, inviting talented short-length movie makers to submit their projects.

The organizers of the event are the Golden Appricot Yerevan International Film Festival and the cultural online TV website Webtv.am. The festival is being held under the general sponsorship of Armenia’s leading mobile operator, VivaCell MTS.

“Thanks to this important initiative, amateur film-makers from different states are offered a unique platform to reveal their talent, gain recognition and draw producers’ attention to their work,” the company’s CEO, Ralph Yirikyan, said.

The organizers have prepared a general prize and two encouraging prizes. The winner of the general prize will receive 400,000 Armenian Drams ($1,000) and a special diploma; the other winners will get only diplomas. All the awardees will be offered a unique chance to use professional film shooting devices for free for ten days.

The film with the highest number of views will be awarded the encouraging prize “Sympathy”, as well as a diploma.

The results will be announced at the special award ceremony from February 25 until March 5. The outcomes will be summed up by a professional jury.

Webtv.am will hold the exclusive right to present the movies.

The permissible length is up to 30 minutes, without any genre restrictions.

Only short-length movies shot from mobile phones, tablets and smartphones are eligible for submission.
