Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin hosts Russian-Armenian museum forum

A Russian-Armenian museum forum ‘Museums of Russia and Armenia’ has kicked off at the Vache and Tamar Manukian matenadaran (institute of manuscripts) of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, with the blessing of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.

The forum has jointly been organized by the Armenian and Russian Ministries of Culture.

Archbishop Natan Hovhannisyan opened the forum. He stressed the importance of such events for jointly dealing with problems of museums. The Armenian clergyman expressed the confidence that the forum will strengthen Armenian-Russian friendship and promote cooperation in various areas.

Co-coordinators of the forum, Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Culture Milovzorova welcomed the forum as well.

The first roundtable held at the Mother See discussed problems of preserving cultural heritage.

Asoghik Karapetyan, Director of Museums and Archives, delivered a report entitled ‘Preservation of Armenia’s spiritual culture: experience of State-Church cooperation.’
