George Clooney’s Armenia trip plan confirmed

System of a Down vocalist Serj Tankian has confirmed the report about popular American actor and filmmaker George Clooney’s planned visit to Armenia next year.

“There's a rumor that George Clooney will be coming to Armenia with us next April. This is undeniable truth,” the singer said in a post on Instagram.

The band had earlier announced a plan for a new global tour, entitled “Wake Up the Soul” . The first concert was held in Los Angeles on Saturday. More concerts are scheduled in the United Kingdom (January 10), Germany (Jan 13), France (Jan 14), Belgium (Jan 16), the Netherland (Jan 17) and Russia (Jan 20).

On the eve of the Armenian Genocide’s centennial on April 23, the band will be giving an open-air free concert in Yerevan.

Established in Los Angeles in 1994, System of a Down (aka SOAD) now consists of four Armenian-Americans, Serj Tankian (lead vocalist), Daron Malakian (vocals, guitar), ), Shavo Odadjian (bass, background vocals) and John Dolmayan(drums). It took its name from a poem that Malakian had written titled "Victims of a Down".
