Armenia’s culture minister sums up 2014

Armenia’s minister of culture on Saturday held an end-of year news conference to sum up the developments and achievements of the past year.

“We completed the re-equipment and modernization of the Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet Theatre,” Hasmik Poghosyan said. “Under the president’s decree on organizing the repairs and permanent displays in museums, the construction of Paruyr Sevak House Museums now drawing to a close.”

Poghosyan said that the ministry also initiated the opening a museum-institute named after the great Armenian musician and composer Komitas, adding that they have now embarked on the elaboration of its 2015 exhibition plan.

She further complained of the absence of corresponding legal regulations. “The museum sector does not have any law; it is under development,” she said.
