Armenian poet Romanos Sahakyan dies

Armenian poet and art critic Romanos Sahakyan has passes at age 76.

Citing the Writers’ Union of Armenia, Armenpress reports that his civil funeral is due on March 7.

Romanos Sahakyan was born on May 5, 1939 in Nagorno-Karabakh’s Talish village (Martakert region). A graduate of the Yerevan State University’s Department of Philology, he for many years taught Armenian literature, aesthetics and history of Armenian culture in different higher education institutions of Yerevan. Sahakyan was a member of the Writers’ Union from 1995. He was an author of 13 books and two scientific monographs.
