Russian translation of ‘The Armenian Genocide. A Complete History’ published
The Armenian National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) hosted a presentation of the Russian translation of the book “The Armenian Genocide. A Complete History”, by Raymond Haroutioun Kévorkian.
Written in French the book has already been translated into English and Turkish.
Historian Ashot Melkonyan stressed that, in harmony with its title, the book tells the full story of the Armenian Genocide.
“The book begins with telling about the roots of the Armenian people and covers the whole period well into the early 1900s. The book does not end in description of the Armenian Genocide. Rather, it covers events until the 1920s. It contains valuable documents the author found and studied in France,” he said.
Mr Kévorkian said that the first part of the book tells about the Armenian people’s lifestyle and describes each Armenian region.
“I tried to analyze the relations between the butcher and his victim, between the two national elites, as well as cultural similarities. The Armenian Genocide is an exceptional event because of the butcher-victim relations,” he said.
