Armenia participates in 12th Thessaloniki Book Fair

Armenia participated in the 12thThessaloniki Book Fair, May 7 to 10.

Armenia’s paricipation was organized by Armenia’s Ministry of Culture and a Greek commission for preparations for the Armenian Genocide centenary.

Besides books from Armenia, the Arevik publishing house of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Greece and the editorial office of the Armenian-Greek publishing house Armenika dusplayed their books at the fair.

Books published in Armenia and abroad in Armenia, Greek and other languages in recent years were displayed at the fair, most of the books being ones on the Armenian Genocide.

The opening ceremony was preceded by a literary and cultural event, ‘Lines of soul, lines of Armenia’, organized by the Thessaloniki branch of the Hamazgain cultural center. Armenian young people participated in the event.

Some of the participants recited works by Khachatur Abovyan, Siamanto and Daniel Varuzhan translated into Greek.

Armenian Amnbassador to Greece Gagik Ghalachyan, representatives of Greek-Armenian community and relgious organizations and numerous guests attended the event.

Both visitors and publishers showed great interest in the Armenian pavilion. The cultural event received wide coverage by Greek mass media.
