Armenian musician concerned of social injustice

The more a country socially just, the more it is powerful, the Armenian film director, music professor and conductor Daniel Yerazhisht said today, expressing his concerns over the possible hike in the prices of power and the recent civic protest against the plan.

“Those people [the authorities] cannot sleep in peace unless they do harm. Experience has shown that they must in order to sleep well. But this is the emotional aspect of the question, If we take justice as a standard in our country and create a justice meter, that should serve as something to measure the powerfulness of Armenia,” he told a news conference.

The musician said he remembers that after the hike in the natural gas prices last year, he predicted to see a light at the end of the tunnel, adding that the dim light of hope eventually faded away now.

“We are dying, sitting below a fruit-bearing tree. An economic slavery dominates Armenia, whereas a slave cannot defend his fatherland,” he added.
