Cinema Hayastan re-opens in Yerevan’s south-western district (photos)
The very last cinema built in Soviet Armenia on Monday re-opened its doors to visitors in Yerevan’s south-western district.
The ceremony was attended by President Serzh Sargsyan, Mayor Taron Margaryan and other officials.
A member of the international cinema network, the cinema Hayastan (Armenia) is assigned an exceptional role in the country.
“We can now compete with all the best cinemas as a full-fledged [member], as we now have a server technology allowing us to watch movie premiers in Armenia while they are being screened in London, Paris and other cities and towns. Meantime, all the authorship rights will be respected,” the cinema’s director, Elmira Harutyunyan, told reporters.
The cinema has three big halls: small, medium and large, each having respectively 30, 150 and 400 seats.
The tickets’ prices will start from 1,000 Armenian Drams ($ 2.08).
A multi-functional center offering different amusement games, bowling and food units also operates on the cinema’s premises.
The building's repairs lasted about two years, attracting investments worth around $ 8 million.
