MIDEM raised Armenia’s international recognition, says festival’s cultural director
Armenia’s participation in the 2015 MIDEM Festival in Cannes is estimated as a great achievement that contributed to its international recognition.
Speaking to Tert.am on the sidelines of the 49th annual event being held in the French coastal city, the festival’s Cultural Director Kornelia Much said she thinks that the country’s presence in the status of an honored participant was very important in terms of introducing its musical diversity (ranging from jazz to pop). She said she is under the impression that everybody now knows about Armenia and highly appreciates its participation in the festival.
Ms Much said she sees wide prospects for developing the music business and industries, with the Armenian participants having demonstrated an interest in, and established important and interesting connections with, other companies.
“Armenian Elements of Music” was the concept selected to represent the country at the international event.
Armenia’s last performance on the sidelines of the festival (which is ending today) was a concert by the Youth Orchestra and the young cellist, Narek Hakhnazaryan. It was broadcast live by the Public Television.
