Armenian musician Jivan Gasparyan’s wife dies
Born in Yerevan on 21 February, 1932, Zargaryan specialized in classical dances at the Yerevan Choreographic College and High School of Dancing Art and Plastique. She then continued her education at the State Brusov Institute of Foreign Languages, majoring in French.
But she dedicated the rest of her life to dance. Zargaryan began her career at the Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, where she played in different performances. In 1948, she joined Tatul Altunyan’s song and dance ensemble where she worked for more than 10 years. It was there that she had the historic encounter which her future spouse. Apart from Armenian dances, Zargaryan also performed the folk dances of other nations (Russians, Ukrainians, Georgians) for her audience.
She introduced the Armenian dance art in many world countries, winning different prizes, honor and acknowledgement awards.
A requiem service for the great dancer will be held in Yerevan’s St Sargis church (Nor Nork administrative district) on Sunday evening. The burial is due on Monday.
