Giuseppe Verdi requiem to be played in Stepanakert on Sept 1

The Messa da Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi will be played in Stepanakert’s Renaissance Square this Saturday to honor the victims of the Armenian Genocide and the heroes who sacrificed their lives for Nagorno-Karabakh’s (Artsakh’s) independence.


A monumental masterpiece of world classical music full of universal ideas and sentiments, the requiem will be performed as an anthem symbolizing the brevity of the human soul and life-asserting principles.


The event is being organized under the high patronage of First Lady Rita Sargsyan.


The project’s general sponsor is the Hayk Maghakelyan Charity Foundation.


The Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra (Artistic Director and General Conductor: Eduard Topchyan), the Armenian National Academic Choir (Hovhannes Chekijyan), the Artsakh State Orchestra (Nina Grigoryan), the State Chamber Choir Mrakats (Marine Mesropyan) have been invited to perform at the concert.


The soloists’ list includes: Yana Safanova (soprano, Russsia), Vishnia Radosav (mezzo soprano, Serbia), Alexander Chernov (tenor, Russia), Nicolas  Nicolas Olivieri (bass, Italy).
