Armenian movie project included Baltic Bridge East West events’ list
The Armenian movie project “My Grandmother’s Hair” is on the list of the eight movies to be presented as part of the initiative Baltic Bridge East by West (b’est eave).
The initiative is a joint effort by the Talin international film festival Baltic Event and the Russian companies RFilms and CTB Film Company. Its sponsors are European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs and Creative Europe MEDIA. B’EST is a contest of movie producers from the European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as Georgia and Ukraine. To be eligible for the project, potential participants are required to collaborate internationally and have movie projects ready for a joint production.
Eight producers (four from the EU member states and four from CIS countries, Georgia and Ukraine) whose projects are found internationally valuable are selected for participation.
"My Grandmother’s Hair" (director Marine Zakaryan) is one of the two selected projects representing the South Caucasus region. The other project, "Basket", (director: Immadin Hasanov), is an Azerbaijani production.
The Armenian film, produced by the studio Parallels, is the fourth full-length movie to be presented as part of the event. It is an epical drama featuring a late-19th century family in one of the villages of Armenia. The actions span three decades. The film, whose plot is based on the memories of the director’s grandmother, is a joint production with Bulgarian and Romanian movie makers. Its screening is scheduled for 2017.
