French-Armenian singer and song-writer Charles Aznavour has made a call for offering a  universal support to the immigrants arriving in Europe.

The 91-year-old made the statement in an interview with AFP.

“I really suffer as I see the crowd of people wandering with kids … Fortunately, mine wasn’t that fate, but I am sure that my immigrant parents did survive that,” he said.

The singer urged for efforts towards aiding the migrants, reiterating his earlier statement that that many French villages and towns, forlorn by their residents, are enough for giving shelter to those people.

“Thus, a new force will appear in those settlements through people of most different professions. Among the immigrants are people with very different professions, including doctors, automotive technicians and bakers. So they will help to open schools and create jobs in those places again,” he added.

Aznavour said he believes that France will regain its one-time reputation of an exemplary country in case the idea is translated into action.

“I am absolutely sure that this is the right way of behaving,” he added.

He also did not rule out the possibility of a collaborative effort by different singers and composers to create a new song dedicated to the topic (as was after the devastating earthquake in Armenia in 1988 when several musicians and singers joined their efforts to compose a song dedicated to the big disaster’s victims).
