Aznavour: I don’t care about my age
Charles Aznavour, the legendary Armenian singer and song-writer, is finally back on stage after four years’ silence.
The musician, now 91, is planning to give six concerts in Palais des Sports, a hall where he has never performed, Purepeople.com reports.
Aznavour will sing 30 songs, including his popular hits and works from his latest album, Encores.
The singer admitted that he has ten times changed the concert program. “What to begin with and what to
sing later and how to finish all that? I will sing 30 songs, eight songs more than I usually do. I am a free man who sings the way he wishes to,” he said in a long interview with the French publication.
Aznavour added that he likes being asked about his age and longevity by the media. He added he feels annoyed about another thing of which he recently talked in an interview.
“The British press has dedicated to me the finest article an artist could possibly get; they have honored me as an author. Whereas in France, I am never in the same ranks with the people I admire - Brel, Brassens, Beart, Gainsbourg. In newspapers, I am always the small Armenian, the son of immigrants. I speak of my clothing and my voice. I for my age, I don’t care about it. I am unbreakable,” he added.
