Turkey shoots first full-length movie on ‘Armenians’ displacement’
Turkish film-makers have produced the first ever full-length movie featuring the 1915 ‘displacement of the Armenians’.
The movie, entitled “The Lost Birds”, addresses the big tragedy 100 years after the Armenian Genocide. Turkey's Ministry of Culture has assisted in the initiative, reports Haberturk.
The film tells the story of a brother and sister, descendents of a wealthy family, who lost their parents in one night in one of the villages of Anatolia.
Back to their house after a stealthy escape in search for a lost blue bird, the two find the village having turned into ‘ghost’. Difficulties push them to a fierce struggle.
Turkish-Armenian actors have taken part in the movie’s shooting.
“The Lost Bird” will go on big screen on October 30. A special screening was organized last week in Vakifli, the last Armenian village in the province Hatay.
