The role-casting for Russian-Armenian director Sarik Andreasyan’s movie about the 1988 earthquake in Armenia has been already made.

Actors Konstantin Lavrenko, Maria Mironova, Danil Izotov, Artyom Bistrov and Sabina Akhmedova will play in the film, “The Story of an Earthquake”, thr.ru reports.

The film will tell the story of the big disaster that claimed 25,000 human lives, leaving about 0.5 million without home.

Central heroes will be Andrey Berezhni, an architect, and Robert Melkonyan, a young man, who meet each other several years after a tragic accident in which the former lost his parents. Andrey, who was guilty for the tragedy, was later convicted; Robert, than a child, was adopted by relatives. Ironically, the devastating quake makes them meet again, this time as members of a rescue team. The two recognize each other, though not at once.

Andreasyan earlier directed the films “The Mothers”, “American Heist” and “Mafia”.

The website reports that a new role-casting will soon be made to select Armenian actors. The film shooting activities will start in Moscow in October. Later, episodes will be shot also in Armenia’s second largest city, Gyumri.
