Galaxy of stars honour Pride of Britain superheroes who have inspired a nation
A galaxy of stars came out in force to honour the ordinary superheroes who have become the Pride of Britain.
Politicians and popstars, actors and entrepreneurs, Olympians and entertainment legends graced the red carpet for the country’s most glittering awards ceremony, which celebrates courage, selflessness, determination and the very best to the human spirit.
And as the VIP guests gathered for the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, sponsored by Lidl, they were delighted to be eclipsed by the REAL stars of the evening - the men, women and children aged from eight to 94, who show what makes our nation great.
Soccer superstar David Beckham spoke for them all when he said: "I think the Pride of Britain is a very important night because there are so many people heroes here and it's nice to be here to celebrate what they have done.
"I had my heroes when I was young to look up to, and I think many people here tonight have their heroes as well.
"They may not be footballers, but they are from different jobs and different parts of the world."
“Well, it’s these people here who are the true heroes. They are totally selfless and think of others first.”
