Globe Theater to stage "Hamlet" in Yerevan

The Shakespearean Globe Theatre is going to stage "Hamlet" in Yerevan as part of the 13th international theatrical festival HayFest.


The performance will be played at the Russian Drama Theater named after Stanislavsky.


At a news conference on Thursday, a deputy minister of culture, Nerses Ter-Vardanyan, and the festival's president, Arthur Ghukasyan, highlighted the importance of the event in Armenia’s cultural life, agreeing that it is a big honor for Yerevan to host the internationally acclaimed theater.

The news conference was also attended by the theater’s actors, Beruche Kan, John Dougall, Ladi Yemiruva and Phoebe Fildes, shared their positive impressions of country. They said they have very much liked the performances in which they took part


John Dougall said that it is very important and obliging for them to continue the Shakespearean traditions in Armenia.


The performance is part of the Globe’s world tour of "Hamlet". Sixteen male and female actors of the theater travel across the seven continents of the world to play spectacle. So far, they have staged the play in over 120 countries.
