5th international academic conference ‘Images of memory’ marking 100th anniversary of Armenian Genocide in Yerevan
The 5th international academic conference “Images of Memory” is taking place at the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts Matenadaran, October 27-29.
The conference is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
The conference carries the headline “Revived culture, revived manuscripts.” The project is part of a grant program for NGOs by the Armenian presidential staff and of a contest by the Youth Ffoundation of Armenia.
Scholars from Russia, the United States, Austria, Holland, Germany, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Georgia are attending the conference.
A the beginning of the conference German restorers Robert Stähle and Margret Jaschke were awarded Gold Medals of Armenia’s Ministry of Culture. For 15 years, they free of charge restored silver-bound manuscripts saved during the Armenian Genocide.
