Golden April film festival to screen film ‘Skhtorashen’

It has been 30 years since Skhtorashen village in Martuni region of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic has been deserted.

The only inhabitant left was 83-year-old Lena. She has been all alone in the village for two years and has died. Her husband continued living with her and refused to leave the village despite the fact that it was getting deserted. Bad roads and the absence of a school caused people to leave Skhtorashen. Lena had four sons. One of them died in the Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) war. Her other sons along with nine grandchildren live in nearby villages. Lena wished her village not to get abandoned and disappear from the map.
