Book on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict presented in Yerevan
The Caucasus Institute, in collaboration with the Academic Swiss Caucasus Net, on Tuesday held the presentation of a book devoted to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Authored by Sergey Minasyan, the Institute’s deputy director, “Deterrence in Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict” addresses both political and diplomatic restraint mechanisms, highlighting in the meantime different practical aspects.
Director of the Institute Alexander Iskandaryan said the first presentation was held in Nagorno-Karabakh’s capital, Stepanakert. “The author tries to shed light on different conflicts around the globe, arriving at the end at a very interesting conclusion,” he said, adding that the book is now accessible also to Azerbaijani readers.
Lieutenant-General Vagharshak Harutyunyan, a former deputy defense minister also attending the presentation, later shared his considerations and remarks. “The author shows ways on how to avoid an all-out war and maintain stability,” he said, adding that the scientific endeavor also sparked a government interest.
“I am hopeful this endeavor will help the society to develop a clearer understanding of the nuances related the possibility of a war over Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said.
